John B. Vickery, Professor Emeritus (951) 827-1849 John B. Vickery , Emeritus (B.A. Toronto; M.A. Colgate; Ph.D. University of Wisconsin) is officially retired but is still active in the Department. From 1983 until his retirement in 1993, he served as Vice Chancellor, Faculty Relations and Academic Support. Among the most influential of his many books are The Literary Impact of The Golden Bough , published by Princeton University Press (1973), and his edition of essays on Myth and Literature , published by the University of Nebraska Press (1966). His most recent book is Myths and Texts, Strategies of Incorporation and Displacement , published by Louisiana State University Press (1983). He has been awarded Guggenheim and American Council of Learned Societies Fellowships. His current research project involves genre theory and a manuscript dealing with the elegiac temper in modern literature. |
