Carole-Anne Tyler, Associate Professor (951) 827-1819 Carole-Anne Tyler (B.A. Williams; M.A., Creative Writing, Ph.D., English, Brown) has a book from Routledge (2003), Female Impersonation , for which she was awarded an American Council of Learned Societies fellowship. Among her published essays are "Desiring Machines? Queer Re-Visions of Feminist Film Theory," in Coming Out of Feminism?; "Death Masks" in Rrose Is a Rrose Is a Rrose , the catalog for a Guggenheim exhibition on gender performance in photography; "Passing," in the journal differences , and "Boys Will Be Girls: The Politics of Gay Drag," in Inside/Out: Lesbian Theories, Gay Theories . She is currently working on a second book project, research for which has been partially funded by a U.C. President's Research Fellowship in the Humanities, Queer Spectacles: Film Theory, Visual Culture, and the Desire for Difference . She is chair of U.C.Riverside's Film and Visual Culture program and was Associate Director of the University's Center for Ideas and Society from 1999 to 2002. Her research interests include gender and sexuality, literary and cultural theory, film and visual culture, and modern and contemporary British and American fiction. |
