Research Areas:

19th-Century Studies, Victorian Studies, Cultural Studies, Science and Literature, and Issues of the Body

Research Interests:

My research largely questions the intersection between the biological and the cultural, specifically within Victorian and 19th-century literature. In doing so, I look at issues of how various physical and biological aspects (such as evolution, the body, food, and sex) may be influenced culturally and vice versa and how notions of bodily grotesque, abjection, and desire may inform these recursions of the biological and cultural. Other minor research interests of mine include popular culture studies, Chican@ studies, and film/television studies.
